How To Workout When You Don’t Want To!

I_Hate_ExerciseThere are days when the last thing I want to do is work out. I wish I could say I am a fitness machine and love every second of it. As a fitness professional, I should be expected to…right? But I’m not. I’m only human.

There are days when it feels like there is too much that needs to get done around the house and at work. The kids have recitals and games. My wife needs help around the house. The week has been stressful, and a workout just isn’t in the picture.

Have you ever had one of those days?

The funniest part about these days is that if I can just make myself squeeze in a workout, I feel amazing afterward. My stress levels drop dramatically, and I am better able to handle my day at work and my evening with my family.

To Work Out or Not To Work Out?

I have some serious goals when it comes to changing my body. I’m going to guess that you do, too. Do you want to lose weight, become leaner, look more toned, get stronger, and feel better?

can you will youMy personal goal of losing fat and building more muscle takes a lot of work and dedication. Did I mention that I have $10,000 on the line? Because of this, I have to stay focused in both the kitchen and gym.

But when those days come, when there is so much to distract me, it becomes very difficult to stay focused on my goals.

What about all the people who have ever made a huge body transformation? Did they have perfect lives and a flexible schedule that made it easy for them to get to the gym every day?

I highly doubt it. Every single person who has ever lost weight has had days where they just wanted to give up. I often feel this way, but I make it to the gym anyways.

What keeps me going? What gets me to the gym each day, and more importantly, what makes me work so hard when I am at the gym? It’s because I can see the end result!

See Your Final Destination

Think of a place in this world that you have never been to, but would love to visit. Maybe it’s an exotic beach or a bustling city.

marshalls3What is the allure that draws you there? It comes down to you having seen beautiful or exciting images or videos, or you’ve either read about or heard fascinating stories about it.

These experiences cause you to be able to see yourself there, and what you see in your mind is powerful enough to cause your desire to grow.

If you allow your mind to dwell on these mental images, that desire grows and grows to compel you to experience it in real life.

This same motivating power can be used to propel us forward towards reaching our weight loss goals.

I am in the habit of doing daily Mind Movies. I spend three to five minutes every day visualizing my goals. I see myself achieving these goals and everything that goes along with them. I focus on the positive feelings and rewarding emotions I will gain from my future accomplishments.

On the days that I really don’t want to go to the gym, I spend a little extra time practicing my Mind Movie to help me gain enough motivation to make it happen.

Once I’m at the gym, I spend a few seconds before each lift playing out a Mind Movie that gets me focused. When I do this, it keeps me motivated to push through the challenges in both the gym and my life.

Using these motivational techniques is a huge part of my Bod-e-Volv Coaching program. In my program, people who normally give up on a weight loss program after a couple weeks or when things get tough are pushing through those hard times to continue on working towards their goals.

Developing a New Identity

Take my client Debbie, for example. In the past, she had the mentality of “all or nothing,” and she proudly wore that identity.

succeed, succumbBut during one lesson, she realized that the “all or nothing” mentality kept her from reaching her goals. Previously, she had been injured during a workout. The injury kept her from being able to do everything she felt she needed to reach her goal. So she took the route of “nothing,” which meant she stopped all exercising and reverted back to poor eating habits.

This self-sabotaging behavior took her backward instead of taking her closer to her goal. Debbie just got injured again, but guess what? She is doing something different this time around. She has beautifully combined many of the techniques we use in the Bod-e-Volv Coaching program into a vision board.

As soon as she got injured, she went to her board and was reminded of her Mind Movie and of who she is. Here is her account:

I am so excited. I had a small setback in the form of an injury. My old identity may have just eaten whatever I wanted and gotten very frustrated. In fact last year when I tore my medial collateral ligament in my knee, that is what I did. I could have done arms or core, but I gave up. This time, I went to my vision board and asked myself what can I do (not focusing on what I couldn’t do). Today I did arms and core. I did not do all or nothing thinking like I would have in the past. I ate healthy, sticking to the habits…Thanks John for teaching me to think in a different way and to redefine what my identity is. I am not a quitter; instead I will look for ways to overcome obstacles! This program is truly life-changing…I cannot believe the difference it is making in my body, outlook and most importantly, my overall health. Thanks John!!!

Debbie is going strong doing what she CAN do. She can see the end results in her mind and uses her Mind Movies to keep her motivation going. This has helped her lose 9 pounds and over 10.75 inches in merely four weeks.

A Vision For Change

She also sees my vision for changing lives and helping people reach their highest potential:

I am so excited about your vision. This program addresses the whole person, and as a nurse, I know that it is crucial to do so. It will happen for you. You are making a lasting impact in peoples’ lives and have such enthusiasm and knowledge. You have been such an encouragement to us, but I want you to know that your program is amazing. It will definitely happen!

Debbie believes in it so much that she has decided to be a part of it for as long as Bod-e-Volv is around. She did this by donating $500 to the fundable campaign, which gives her access to everything I do for life.

You can also be a part of this amazing program. My ultimate goal is to help a million people change their bodies and their lives through the Bod-e-Volv Coaching Program. I want people to realize their potential.

You can be a part of it. By donating to the fundable campaign—even just $50—you will be able to get early access to the Bod-e-Volv coaching program (Over $1400 Value). Enrollment is currently closed, and the only way to guarantee you a spot is to make a donation.

Make sure to read the rewards closely and pick the reward that best suits your needs. I look forward to helping you discover your desired end result and taking you on the journey there.
