What would you say if I told you that nutrition and exercise were not the most important components of a weight loss program?

Don’t get me wrong–they are extremely important. But if they were the only things we had to worry about, everyone would be eating salads and lifting weights. Obesity wouldn’t exist.

believeIt’s time we bring focus to our minds. When a client tells me that they don’t believe they can lose weight, I immediately know that if I can’t help them change that mindset, their self-fulfilling prophecy will win. They won’t lose the weight.

Is it because they are sending negative vibes out to the universe or earning bad karma? I don’t think so. It has to do more with a person’s motivation.

What You Believe, You Will Achieve

Why would someone work hard, put in precious time and effort, and endure things that will make them feel uncomfortable if they didn’t believe they would get anything positive out of it? I know I wouldn’t!

If someone really believes they will achieve their weight loss goals, Exercise fatiguethey will push through the discomfort. They will also make it past a few weeks of no visible progress on the scale.

One of the biggest things I focus on in the Bod-e-Volv coaching program is my client’s mindset and their belief in themselves.

Every day, these participants receive a lesson from me on topics about nutrition, exercise, and mindset. Over the last couple of weeks, I have heavily focused on the mindset concept. It’s amazing seeing how these lessons have positively impacted the participants.

Lies You’ve Been Told

One of my favorite lessons, which I titled “Strength of An Elephant,” shares the story of a man visiting Bangkok.

While there, he noticed that elephants were chained up using what seemed to be weak chains. He approached one of the caretakers and asked why the elephants didn’t just break the chains and run away.

elephant chainThe caretaker responded by saying, “They would not because they believed they could not.” The elephants were chained from when they were babies, and because they couldn’t break the chains then, they believed they couldn’t now.

This fable encourages use to think about what false beliefs we might hold about ourselves. Things we may have been told, or things we have just assumed to be true without proof.

Now is the time for you to remove your own false beliefs. But how do you do that? How do you change lifelong beliefs about yourself?

Mind Movies

In the Bod-e-Volv program, I teach a technique I call Mind Movies, which allows you to harness the power of your mind to change your false beliefs about yourself.

This technique is very simple and only takes about three minutes a day. Here are the steps:

Step 1

Decide on a belief that you would like to change. For example: “It’s too hard for me to overcome my sweet tooth.”

Step 2who am i

Build a Mind Movie of you overcoming your obstacle. For example, if you want to overcome your sweet tooth, build a Mind Movie that depicts you overcoming your sweet tooth in various situations. Envision yourself at a social gathering avoiding the sweets and eating healthy food. Picture yourself looking amazing in a swimsuit because of your choices.

Step 3

Replay that movie every day, at least once a day. It doesn’t need to take long. You can make it through your Mind Movie and feel all the emotions in a few minutes. As time goes on, your movie will be so familiar that you can go through it in a matter of seconds whenever you need support.

I personally use my Mind Movies throughout the day for various activities. I visualize my writing before I start writing. I visualize each exercise before I do them during my workouts. I visualize my clients and try to gain a better understanding of their situations as I respond to questions and concerns throughout the Bod-e-Volv program. Each of these Mind Movie sessions take mere seconds, but in the beginning, it took a little longer. As you get the hang of it, you will notice it becoming easier to go through your mind movies and begin to shed your false beliefs about yourself.

My own vision for what I wanted to do with my life and how I wanted to touch the lives of people I come into contact with is beginning to be realized.
