How To Enjoy Thanksgiving And Keep The Weight Off

I’ve been thinking about some things lately.

A couple months ago I was finishing up a competition that I entered. A 12 month muscle building competition. The goal was to put on as much muscle as possible

I think I did a pretty good job.

Towards the end of the competition I needed to lose some extra fat I had put on by eating enough to put on the muscle.

To drop the fat and lose nearly 30 pounds I put a tight control on everything I ate.

The moment I became strict with my meals, my family and I had one party after another and one family get-together after another. Which always involved food. Food that wasn’t conducive to my goals

To make sure I reached my goal, I brought my own meals.

Right smack in the middle of this strict eating was a party. The setup of the party made it impossible for me to bring my own food. So I had to figure out a different way to enjoy the party and food without plateauing or stalling my weight loss. Let alone gaining weight.

So I devised a plan, and the awesome part is… it worked.

With thanksgiving coming up, and after that other holiday meals that will inevitably ensue, I wanted to teach you the plan I followed to help me reach my goal, and the plan I will be using this Thanksgiving.

  1. Here is the 4th technique that I plan to use this Thanksgiving.

Eat The Nutrient Dense Foods First.

I plan to eat a large salad and the minimum amount of protein I need at the beginning of the meal.

Its better to make sure we get all the right things in than to worry about eating the wrong things. After I finish the salad and turkey I will move to the other tasty items. Not overdoing it, but allowing myself to enjoy some of the delicacies that will be present

  2. John, you are a super dooper nice guy! and your video was great! SO important to consciously think thorough incorporating goals into the Thanksgiving feast. Personally, I really liked your idea of eating the salad and protein first and savoring each bite. I definitely tend to rush through food when I like it a lot; your analogy to the art museum is perfect. After looking at it in this light, rushing through Thanksgiving seems like one is not truly grateful for it after all, which would be super sad since it is Thanksgiving and because I will have painstakingly made nearly everything! I also REALLY do not like the feeling of being stuffed; I’ve gotten way more sensitive to it since doing your program. I plan on eating to full only, not overfull. Thanks for the tips!
